The Department of Earth Sciences has just appointed a staff scientist. This is a new title at the university, and the duties of a research infrastructure specialist include development and other research support work within a research infrastructure, including providing qualified expertise, advice, and technical and/or methodological services and development. In addition, other types of tasks may occur, such as research, education and administrative work related to a research infrastructure.
‘For many years, I have worked almost exclusively with national and international research infrastructure for scientific drilling and open science in the earth sciences. I am extremely pleased with the new job title, which reflects my expertise and field of work, and is recognition that working with research infrastructure is considered important,’ says Henning Lorenz.
