Soon time to apply for our new master's programme in Sustainable Coastal Development, starting in the autumn semester of 2026

The Department of Earth Sciences is launching a new Master's Programme in Sustainable Development of Coastal Areas, starting in autumn 2026 – in the middle of the Baltic Sea, at Campus Gotland.

The programme focuses on sustainable development of coastal areas – i.e. the environments where land meets sea, where people live, visit, fish, build and have an impact. The focus is on the socio-ecological systems that shape coastal regions, and the programme's studies are interdisciplinary in order to understand and manage complex sustainability challenges. It covers everything from coastal planning to climate change, ecosystem services, equity issues, fishing and marine observations.
Patrik Rönnbäck, Professor of Sustainable Development, and Lina Mtwana Nordlund, Senior Lecturer in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development, tell us more about the programme in a new film, see below.
