Uppsala City Council wants to turn the River Fyris in central Uppsala into a swimming spot; Roger Herbert comments

Uppsala Municipality wants to make the River Fyris in central Uppsala suitable for swimming within a few years. At present, it is possible to swim in certain areas of the River Fyris further upstream, such as at Ulva Mill and Storvad.

Roger Herbert, senior lecturer in hydrology at Uppsala University, explains why conditions vary between different parts of the river.
