Since ancient times, people had walked behind horses and frozen. With coal came the modern world. Heat, trains and economic growth brought great achievements, and farming communities grew into industrialised nations. After coal came oil. The oil rush once started in Texas and is still going on; in Los Angeles, the car industry swept pedestrians off the streets. Fossil fuels had definitely changed the world - but also the climate.
