Nordic co-operation for the sustainable extraction and use of metals and minerals
The EU has identified 34 critical raw materials as essential to our society. Much of the production of these raw materials takes place outside the EU, but there are significant deposits of critical metals and minerals in the Nordic region. Today, the Nordic Sustainable Minerals project is being summarised at a conference in Helsinki.
Erik Jonsson, State Geologist at SGU and Adjunct Professor at UU has been involved in the work within the part of the project that worked with Nordic mineralisations with rare earth elements (REE) and their characterisation.
