Interview about the effects relocations grants in Sweden

Jakob Molinder (Department of Economic History, UU) was interviewed by Sveriges radio and Dagens nyheter, January 2026.

In the past, the government paid for the relocation of hundreds of thousands of people from northern Sweden to jobs in the south. The situation is now reversed – northern Sweden has the country’s lowest unemployment and is desperately looking for people to fill thousands of open positions. Voices are now being raised to reintroduce relocation grants.

The article and interview is in Swedish.
