Researchers receive almost 36 million SEK from Forte
The research programs "Structural change: consequences and policy responses" and "Understanding and advancing labor market integration in transitional times" receive almost 36 million SEK from Forte.
The program "Structural change: consequences and policy responses" aims to, on the one hand, understand the consequences of structural change for wage inequality, job loss, and occupational mobility; and, on the other hand, evaluate policies according to their effectiveness in facilitating workers' adjustment to structural change. The program is situated within the research environment of the Uppsala Center for Labor Studies (UCLS), which brings together Swedish and international researchers.
– We are very pleased with the grant from Forte, which means that UCLS research on the effects of structural change can be further strengthened, says Peter Fredriksson.
The program "Understanding and advancing labor market integration in transitional times" aims to improve understanding of the mechanisms promoting and preventing successful labor market integration. Researchers will also develop evidence-based tools across disciplines and with agents in the public and private sectors. The research is based on perspectives from economics, psychology and political science, and combines different methods for data collection and analysis. The program is based within Uppsala Immigration Lab (UIL), an interdisciplinary research environment consisting of researchers with broad theoretical and methodological perspectives in migration and working life.
– The funding from Forte shows the relevance and quality of UIL's operations, and provides opportunities to continue to develop it further, says Olof Åslund.
