In connection with the publication of a Swedish translation of her award-winning A Ghost in the Throat, Doireann Ní Ghríofa will be visiting us to read from and discuss her work.
Doireann Ní Ghríofa is an acclaimed bilingual (Irish and English) author, whose work is "devoted to exploring how the past makes itself felt within the present." Her most recent work, A Ghost in the Throat, is an award-winning work of autobiography, criticism, and translation, which explores the author's own longstanding obsession with the eighteenth-century Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill, whose chilling lament for her murdered husband, Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire, represents the earliest surviving piece of women's writing in the Irish language.
In connection with the publication of a Swedish translation of the work, Ett spöke i strupen, Doireann will be visiting us to read from and discuss her work.
