Alumna of the Department of Food Studies, Nutrition and Dietetics presented with award by the King

On 19 January 2026, My Berensson, Head of Food Services for Ekerö Municipality, received one of five awards from the Gastronomic Academy. The awards recognise significant contributions to Swedish food culture. My is an alumna of Uppsala University and graduated from the Dietetics and Nutrition programme in 2011. The award was presented by the King at the Gastronomic Academy’s annual ceremonial dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
In the citation, her work on developing high-quality, climate-smart school meals was highlighted. My herself is deeply honoured to have received the award and emphasises the importance of public meals being recognised in this context. She also points out that this achievement would not have been possible without the municipality’s entire food service organisation. One of the initiatives developed by the municipality is Ekerörätten, a dish that is served annually.
In connection with Public Meal Day in 2023, Ekerörätten was presented. It is a signature dish representing the local landscape and agricultural production of the municipality. The dish is based on ingredients from the Mälar Islands pantry, with vegetables taking centre stage on the plate, while meat—specifically game—is served as a complement, together with miso apple and ginger-infused lingonberries. The concept draws inspiration from the Landscape Meals initiative, which was launched when Stockholm was named European Capital of Gastronomy that same year.
