On Tuesday 20 May, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Coco Norén visited Skytteanum in order to award this year's pedagogical prize for outstanding achievements in education at first and second cycle level. The 2025 pedagogical prize in the field of law and social sciences was awarded to Professor PeO Öberg of the Department of Government.

PeO Öberg receives the award with the motivation:
PerOla Öberg is a teacher who fosters curiosity and encourages dialogue in his teaching. His empathy and dedication make his teaching especially accessible. PerOla’s teaching style invites questions and discussion, while awakening the student’s interest and deepening their understanding of the subject area. Always striving to see and understand the students’ needs has meant that his teaching in quantitative methods is greatly appreciated by the students. His teaching style features a clear structure within which the students are given the opportunity to develop and consolidate their knowledge in methods through active learning, reflection, and meaningful participation.
‘Wow, the Distinguished Teaching Award in the field with the most students in the best university! That's the best prize you can receive in academia. A prize I'm sure everyone wishes they could get. I didn't even consider that I would be eligible, though, because there are so many other great teachers that I admire, and who have motivated and inspired me to improve my own teaching. I am surprised, overwhelmed and overjoyed. Now I'm sitting in my office at Skytteanum and thinking about how I can develop and improve the pedagogical rationale that the fine motivation expresses’ says PeO Öberg.
University staff and students nominate potential award candidates. The final recipients of the Prize are selected by the Uppsala University Vice-chancellor
The prize will be awarded to PeO in a ceremonial manner on the occasion of the University's birthday in October.
