Where are you working now and what is your current position? On a typical day (or week) in this position, what do you do?

I am currently working as an analyst with the Swedish Police. On a typical day I help detectives in certain cases, which are of extra complexity usually related to serious crime. This involves mapping sequences of events as well as presenting theories.

What was your first job after graduation?

My first job after graduation was as a case officer with the Swedish Migration Agency.

To what extent is what you learned during your studies in Political Science at Uppsala University applicable in your current job?

My education at Uppsala University has been of great benefit to me in my current position especially in terms of processing large amounts of information in a constructive way. I have also benefitted from what I have learned in terms of method, quantitative as well as qualitative.

Why did you choose the Master’s Programme in Political Science at Uppsala University?

I chose the Master's Programme in Political Science at Uppsala University because I had heard good things about the programme and wanted to study at the oldest as well as best university in Sweden.

What is your best memory from your time at Uppsala University?

One of my best memories from Uppsala university is passing the exam in quantitative methods with a distinction after having been very nervous about getting my results.

What advice would you give to current and future students of Political Science?

My advice is to be curious about the labor market and not to be too prestigious in the jobs that you apply for. Try networking and contacting different employers with questions and do not be too picky in the jobs that you apply for. With a job it becomes easier to work towards your dream job.
