Linn will present part of her book project, a transnational study of the reception and cultural impact of the dictionary genre in eighteenth-century Europe, as seen through the learned periodical press in five countries (France, England, Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden), focusing on the enthusiasm and worry that the genre’s popularity raised about knowledge, learning, and changing reading behaviours.
