Thomas Söderqvist, Professor Emeritus, University of Copenhagen: "Digital memoirs - academic autobiography in the (post?) social media era"

Abstract
Throughout my career, I have been fascinated with contemporary Academia. I have written about 20C history of ecology and immunology, biographies of now living (or recently) deceased medical scientists, and the contemporary biomedical cultural heritage; and about associated methodological problems: historiography of sci.-tech-med, scientific biography as a genre, and the biomedical museum institution. In the last couple of years, I have turned my interest to the most contemporary of historical genres, i.e., autobiography/memoir; I do research in my own archive, interview former friends and colleagues, write episodes and chapters of my autobiography, and reflect on academic autobiography/memoir as a genre. In this presentation, I will address a specific genre problem that occupies my mind right now: what does academic autobiography look like in the era of the internet and social media?
