Welcome to this year’s Uppsala Lecture in Housing and Urban Research!

This year we are delighted to welcome Professor Rich Mitchell from the School of Health and Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow, who will give the lecture Time. Space. Misery. Hope. What can I do about urban health inequalities?, focusing on green spaces and urban health.

The lecture is open to the public and will take place in Brusewitzsalen (entrance via Östra Ågatan 19). No registration is required.

After the lecture, you are warmly invited to mingle and enjoy light refreshments.

 

Professor Rich Mitchell

Professor Rich Mitchell is an epidemiologist and geographer. In his early career Rich Mitchell focused on mapping and understanding inequalities in health. Over time he became more interested in how health can be protected and how inequalities could be addressed. He developed research on the benefits of urban green spaces for health and is author and co-author of multiple key studies in the field.

Rich Mitchell’s research has had a significant influence on policy and practice both in the UK and internationally. He is also one of the co-founders of the interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Health (CRESH).
