Panagiotis Baliakas awarded Region Uppsala’s research prize 2021
He is awarded for his research in clinical genetics where he has developed the hematological diagnostics at Uppsala University Hospital.
Panagiotis Baliakas’ research focuses on new mechanisms, improved diagnostics and optimal choice of therapy for hematological malignancies. His application and development of new methods for precision medicine has resulted in established clinical guidelines and increased survival for affected individuals.
Since 2009, Region Uppsala’s council presents a research prize for patient-oriented research. Besides Panagiotis Baliakas’, four other researchers are awarded the SEK 10 000 prize this year. The prize ceremony will be held at the Faculty meeting in the University main building on 9 June.
