New grants for diabetes research
Olle Korsgren, Xuan Wang and Louise Granlund have been awarded grants on in total SEK 2,29 million from the Swedish Child Diabetes Foundation.
Olle Korsgren, professor at IGP, is awarded around SEK 1,25 million for a project on the application of newly developed PET imaging modalities, digital biopsies, to unravel the immunopathological processes in type 1 diabetes.
Xuan Wang, who is affiliated with both IGP and the Department of Medical Cell Biology, has been granted SEK 744 000 to study the role of extracellular vesicles in the interaction between beta cells and immune cells.
Louise Granlund, postdoc in Olle Korsgren’s group, receives almost SEK 300 000 for elucidating the etiology of type 1 diabetes, with the aim of developing novel intervention strategies.
