Funding for IGP projects to develop innovations
Xingqi Chen, Anna Dimberg, Marie Jeansson and Fredrik Swartling have been granted funding in SciLifeLab’s and Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation’s programme on Proof of Concept grants to promote innovations in life science.
Xingqi Chen’s grant will be used to develop sensitive genetic analysis technologies for clinical research. Anna Dimberg’s project concerns next generation immunotherapy for cancer. Fredrik Swartling will develop a diagnostic tool for brain tumor recurrence. Marie Jeansson, who is working both at IGP and Karolinska Institutet, has been granted funding to develop a therapeutic intervention against chronic kidney disease.
The Proof of Concept programme is not intended as an ordinary research grant but should provide opportunities to validate research results and develop an academic discovery towards an innovation.
The funded projects will each receive between one and four million SEK over a project period of a maximum of two years. In addition to the funding, the project leaders will obtain continued support from the team at Wallenberg Launch Pad (WALP) to develop their innovation to commercial maturity.
