Taija Mäkinen new EMBO member
Taija Mäkinen has be elected to EMBO membership and is since 1 July one of EMBO’s approximately 2100 members.
EMBO is a membership organisation that supports young scientists to advance their research, by e.g. enabling international mobility and providing courses and conferences. For instance, researchers can apply for funding from EMBO for postdoctoral fellowships and for establishing an independent research group.
Candidates for EMBO membership can only be nominated and elected by existing EMBO members, and membership is a lifelong honour. Members participate actively in EMBO initiatives such as serving on EMBO committees and reviewing funding applications. Previous EMBO members at IGP are Christer Betsholtz, Lena Claesson-Welsh, Ulf Landegren and Bengt Westermark.
