Magnus Essand Cancer Researcher of the Year 2026
Magnus Essand, professor at IGP, has been named Cancer Researcher of the Year 2026 by the Swedish Cancer Society. He is awarded for his groundbreaking and internationally unique research in cancer immunotherapy.

The award justification reads: “For world-leading research into cancer immunotherapy. Through cutting-edge molecular engineering, he has developed innovative cell therapies that have made the journey from the laboratory to patients, with results that save lives.”
The Cancer Researcher of the Year Award is presented annually by the Swedish Cancer Society to a researcher who has made particularly significant contributions to improving cancer treatment and increasing survival rates. The award was presented on 10 March in conjunction with the Swedish Cancer Society’s 75th anniversary event.
