Marika Nestor granted support for innovation project
Marika Nestor has been granted funding in SciLifeLab’s and Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation’s Proof of Concept programme, which aims to strengthen the path from academic research to societal impact.
Marika Nestor’s research focuses on targeted radiotherapy against cancer. The awarded grant will be used to develop radiopharmaceuticals that target the protein NK1R, which is present in increased amounts in for instance brain tumours. They are intended both for precision imaging and radiotherapy.
In this year’s call for SciLifeLab’s and Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation’s Proof of Concept grants, the funded projects will receive between one and four million SEK for a maximum of two years. In addition to the funding, the project leaders will obtain continued support from the team at Wallenberg Launch Pad (WALP) to develop their innovation to commercial maturity.
