IM Alumn: careers after international education

The Alumni Society at the Department of Informatics and Media – IM Alumn – together with the student organisations at the department organise a seminar where you will meet former students and learn from their experiences from education and jobs.

What are former master students and students from our international educations doing when they leave Uppsala University?

This will especially be an opportunity to assemble students from our international educations with focus on International Media and Communications Studies (IMCS) and all exchange students that have studied at our department, the former DIS department or at the Sociology department.

We will have short presentations by two former Master’s students and one student from International Media and Communications Studies (IMCS).

Martin Rutkowski, Master in Human-Computer Interaction, works as a CX Designer Consultant and Manager for a design group at Sigma Technology Cloud, with clients such as Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), the Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden) and SEB Banking Group. In his role he interviews customer, gathers data produced by the users and designs sketches to create available and user friendly Webb-services. Through Martin’s gathered experience regarding how it is to work with design development as a UX/CX designer he will give us general tips and tricks in his seminar The work Life for an Average Designer.

Nikola Katardjiev, Master in Information Systems, has a hybrid role at Tele2’s data collection of fixed broadband infrastructure where he works as a Product Owner and Sowftware Engineer. His team build custom microservices to poll equipment and inventory data of Tele2’s hardware. Besides designing, implementing and testing the micro-services he also directs his team and help them balance will tell us about Balancing bureaucracy with Code.

Larissa A. K. Matsson, Bachelor in Media and Communication Studies, works as an Executive Producer and Showrunner represented by WME with close relations to the Emmy and Academy Award-winning multimedia company where she oversees all aspects of productions whilst working closely with the network and production company. Larissa has worked on various formats within Reality TV for over 20 years and in her seminar she will tell us about The Role of a Show Runner in Reality Television.
