Department of Informatics and Media’s diploma ceremony 2023

Who is welcome to attend the ceremony?

All students who are graduating in 2023 from one of the programmes within the Department of Informatics and Media are welcome to attend. You are also welcome to join if you are studying courses within these programs and are graduating towards the summer. The following are the included programs:

•  Bachelor's Programme in Information Systems and Systems Development
•  Bachelor's Programme in Media, Communication and Journalism Studies
•  Master's Programme in Information Systems
•  Master's Programme in Management, Communication and IT (MKIT)
•  Master's Programme in Human-Computer Interaction
•  Master's Programme in Social Sciences and Digital Media and Society
•  Journalism

Guests

You are welcome to bring up to 5 guests from your family and friends to the ceremony. Uppsala University’s Aula has limited seating and we reserve the right to limit the number of guests if we exceed the maximum capacity.

Times for the day

10:30  Gathering for all participants before the ceremony, seated on assigned place inside the university aula. We will then have a run-thru of the ceremony and how the diplomas will be handed out so it is very important that you are present so you get this information.

11:30  Doors open for guests

12:00  The ceremony begins

14:00  Preliminary end of the ceremony

Seating plan

You will be assigned a seat in the university aula based on your programme/course and name. This will be sent out after the registration deadline with further instructions.

Diplomas

You do not need to apply for you official degree certificate in order to participate, this is applied for separately from this ceremony. The diplomas awarded at this ceremony are unofficial and produced by the department. They cannot be used as a degree certificate or other official document from the university and are only symbolic.

Clothing/dress code

The suggested dress code for the ceremony is “kavaj” (suit/dress) but this is just a recommendation. Dress as you feel nice and comfortable and should you feel insecure about clothing choices, hopefully your fellow students can be helpful.
