Nico Carpentier elected as Chair of the IAMCR Participatory Communication Research Section
At the yearly conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) which took place in Leicester from 27 to 31 July 2016, Nico Carpentier was unanimously elected by the members of the Participatory Communication Research Section as Section Chair.
During the same meeting, Ana Duarte Melo, University of Minho, and Jonas Agerbæk Jeppesen, Roskilde University, were elected as the Section's new vice-Chairs.
For Nico Carpentier, the Leicester conference also meant the completion of a successful four-year term as IAMCR Treasurer and Executive Board member, during which the organisation's Executive Secretariat was established, different support funds and an endowment were created, and the organisation become (even) more transparent and democratic.

Nico Carpentier is professor in media and communication studies at the Department of Informatics and Media, Uppsala University.
