The Department of Information Technology hereby invites all interested to a docentship lecture in the subject of Computer Science with specialisation in Computing Education Research.
Chairperson: Professor Anna Eckerdal
Representative of the Docentship Committee: Professor Nataša Sladoje
Abstract: In this lecture, we will examine how we can learn with and about computing, exploring its transformative potential to enhance education. Computing —the application of technology to process data, solve problems, and interact with digital and physical systems— has the capacity not only to enrich learning experiences but also to support learners’ cognitive development while fostering essential 21st-century skills and Key Competences. Framed within the broader discipline of computing education research, this lecture highlights how computing can be effectively integrated into educational practices. Beyond simply using technology, we will discuss how understanding computing empowers learners to think creatively and develop innovative solutions in a technology-driven world.
The lecture is an obligatory teaching test for those applying for admittance as docent and it should be possible for students and others with basic academic education in the relevant field to follow it. The lecture lasts 40-45 minutes with subsequent discussion.
The lecture will be given in English. Welcome!
