Professor Lina von Sydow long‑standing leader and driving force in information technology

Lina von Sydow defended her doctoral thesis in 1995 and is a professor at the Department of Information Technology.

As Head of Department from 2018 to 2023, she led the department through a period of strong growth, and during the pandemic under Lina von Sydow’s leadership, significant efforts were made to meet the increased need for education. She has also worked actively to promote equal opportunities and to increase the proportion of women both in educational programmes and among teaching staff in information technology.

In addition to her research and departmental leadership, she has held a large number of strategic roles:

- member of the Faculty Board
- chair of the Educational Board of Engineering (TUN)
- Vice-Dean for Education
- section dean for Mathematics and Computer Science
- programme coordinator for the Master’s Programme in Engineering Physics

She has also contributed to the Faculty’s development work, including initiatives on widening participation and the allocation of resources. Taken together, her extensive and long‑term commitment makes her a highly deserving recipient of the Hedlinger Medal.
