The inquiry, in which Mikael Ruotsi is one of five experts, will among other things consider whether there is a need to restrict constitutional protection for online services publishing private information such as address, telephone number, marital status etc.

The inquiry shall review whether the current regulation provides sufficient protection against privacy violations in the manner required by both the European Convention and EU law. The inquiry will have to strike a careful balance between freedom of expression and the right to privacy, and submit proposals for any changes needed in the constitution and in statutory law.

"It will be exciting to work with these urgent and complex issues", says Mikael Ruotsi.

The assignment must be reported no later than 15 November 2024.
