How should a mandatory so-called language preschool be introduced for children in need of improved language development in Swedish? A special investigator will consider this issue, among others, and propose measures to ensure that children who do not receive sufficient support in their home environment can develop their Swedish language skills in preschool. All preschools in Sweden should have equal conditions to offer children a high-quality education. The investigator will also propose how clearer requirements for Swedish language proficiency should be introduced for preschool staff, as well as how to ensure that child groups in all preschools have an appropriate size and staff-to-child ratio.

The mandate is valid from February 25, 2025 until further notice, but no longer than until the tasks of the investigation are completed.
