Abstract:
Who is the multimodal reader? Can a Bookstagramer make a bestseller? In this talk, Danielle Fuller examines readers’ – especially influencers’ - attitudes towards bestselling fiction, and their social practices of sharing and connecting within contemporary reading recommendation cultures on- and off-line.
Bio:
Fuller’s areas of research are contemporary cultures of reading, and interdisciplinary research methods that combine textual and empirical modes of investigation and include the seminal Reading Beyond the Book (2013). Reading Bestsellers: Recommendation Culture and the Multimodal Reader, co-authored with DeNel Rehberg Sedo, is a forthcoming Element from Cambridge University Press, April 2023.
