Abstract:
Oscar von Seth (Centre for Gender Research, Uppsala University and Department for History, King’s College London) presents his upcoming monograph Queer Waiting (Bloomsbury, 2026). The book argues that waiting is not merely a universal human experience but a queer cultural phenomenon that has shaped queer lives, histories, and narratives across time. Drawing on a broad selection of queer-themed texts—from early twentieth-century literature to contemporary film, queer autobiographies, and a videogame—Queer Waiting demonstrates how waiting is a structuring temporality in representations of queerness.
