Presentation:
In this set of papers we will discuss the relationship between travelling, and the codification and circulation of knowledge in different 18th century settings, Hudson Bay and Sweden. At the forefront is ethnographic knowledge and local “substitute” knowledge, and the extent to which it is possible to see the contours of different audiences in the processing of travelling knowledge.

Hanna Hodacs (Department of History of Science and Ideas, Uppsala University): "Codification of local 'substitute' knowledge in Linnaeus’s writing – tracing links between travel accounts, lectures, floras, newspapers and calendars"
