The next talk of The Biomedical Engineering Seminar Series at the Ångström Laboratory.

Our research focuses on the dynamic interface between cells and their surrounding microenvironment. Cells are equipped with specialized sensors that detect extracellular forces and convert them into signaling and behavioral responses. We study this cell biology in the context of cancer to understand how specific molecular mechanisms and machines may be targeted to augment cancer cell survival, migration and drug responses. To enable these studies, our group has developed several novel experimental tools, including a cell compression device for mechanobiology studies; fluidic systems for drug-diffusion assays; and an open-source bioprinter with complementary accessory tools. In parallel, we operate U-PRINT, a 3D-printing facility at Uppsala University. U-PRINT is supported as an infrastructure within the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy; as a local research unit of SciLifeLab Uppsala; and as part of the Additive Manufacturing for the Life Sciences Competence Centre (AM4Life).
