Romain Gicquaud from University of Tours gives a seminar with the title "Enumerating regular graphs: why should you care?". The talk should be accessible to a broad audience of mathematicians. Welcome to join!

Abstract: A graph is an algebraic structure representing vertices connected by edges. It is said k-regular if every vertex is connected to k other vertices. Enumerating isomorphism classes of regular graphs is an important topic in combinatorics and efficient algorithms are known to solve this problem.

I will show that k-regular graphs can be used to provide generators for the ring of invariants of certain representations of the orthogonal group O(n) and explain how computer algebra can be used to find relations between these invariants.
