Master's student Simon Vågberg presents the knowledge and insights gained from his advanced mathematics course. Welcome!

Abstract: In this seminar we will start by going through the foundational definitions and constructions within the theory of Hochschild cohomology, such as cup product, circle product, and the Gerstenhaber bracket. This will also allow us to put some structure on the cohomology spaces to make them into a so called Gerstenhaber algebras. Then we introduce the notion of a formal deformation of a k-algebra and see how properties of such deformations can be interpreted through the lens of Hochschild cohomology.
