Abstract: In this talk, I will introduce the configuration space of a finite-dimensional algebra of finite representation type. It's an algebraic variety, with a distinguished set of coordinate functions. The locus where they are all non-negative defines a region whose face structure is dual to the g-vector fan of the algebra. I will discuss a few different ways to think about these configuration spaces. The motivation for studying these configuration spaces comes from the physics of scattering amplitudes, about which I'll try to give some ideas without going into a lot of detail. Time permitting, I will say something about how we hope to generalize the configuration space to algebras of infinite representation type. This is a joint project with Nima Arkani-Hamed, Hadleigh Frost, Pierre-Guy Plamondon, and Giulio Salvatori.
