Abstract: First we describe examples of dynamical systems with an infinite invariant measure obtained as extensions (skew products) of a given dynamical system by a "cocycle''. This raises two questions: recurrence of the corresponding "stationary'' random walk and ergodicity of the skew product.

Then we will focus on the case where the dynamical system in the basis is a rotation.
The ergodicity of the extension is related to Diophantine conditions on the rotation.
We will present in particular recent results for extensions of a 2-dimensional rotation on the torus, a joint work with Nicolas Chevallier (University of Mulhouse).
