Welcome to this seminar held by Stanislav Volkov, Lund University, with the title "Conservative random walk and related topics".
Abstract: Consider the following modification of a simple random walk (SRW) on Z^d, d>=1. The usual SRW chooses its direction at random uniformly from all 2d possibilities at every moment of time. But now suppose that at time n=0,1,2,... the walk just keeps going in the same direction it was going previously, and only decides to update its direction with probability p_n, where p_n is a given (non-random) sequence. Is this walk recurrent/transient? What is its scaling limit? I am going to answer these questions during my talk.
Based on the joint work with János Engländer.
This is a seminar in our seminar series on Probability and Combinatorics (PC).
