Emmy Murphy (University of Toronto) gives this lecture series. Welcome!

Abstract: The goal of this lecture series is twofold: to give an introduction to the geometry of contact/symplectic manifolds, and to explore applications of techniques inspired by the h-principle. The first portion will cover the basic structures in contact/symplectic geometry, two types of geometry which are related to complex geometry, mathematical physics, and differential topology. The majority of the lectures will cover a variety of flexibility results. We'll start with some introductory h-principles in smooth topology. The main goal will be to cover 3D overtwistedness, loose Legendrians, Lagrangian cobordisms, and flexible Weinstein maniofolds. We'll also give a presentation of other recent results, such as high dimensional overtwistedness, high dimensional convex surfaces, and Liouville cobordisms.
