A Clinical Academic Award (CAG) was granted a project headed by main applicants Anna Rostedt Punga (IMV) and Stefan Schwartz (IMBIM). The award amounts to 8 million SEK over a period of 4 years. The CAG-project involves several collaborators including clinicians and clinical and basic researchers mainly from IMV and IMBIM, among them Tanel Punga and Naoko Kajitani from IMBIM. The purpose of the project is to investigate the aetiology of Bell’s Palsy, an idiopathic disease that may possibly be caused by one or more herpesviruses. Biomarkers for Bell’s Palsy and targets of therapy will be identified that will be of benefit to patients with facial nerve palsy as well as for the health care system.
