Honoring Per Jemth: Posthumous Recipient of the Lyktan Award
It is once again with sorrow and gratitude that we look back on the incredible impact Per Jemth had on his students.
This year, the Medical Student Council – the association of medical students at Uppsala University – has posthumously awarded Per the highest honor a non-physician can receive for extraordinary contributions to the medical program, with the following motivation:
“It is with great joy and deep respect that we nominate Per Jemth for Lyktan. Per was not only an educator of the highest caliber, but a true source of inspiration for both students and colleagues. Through his dedication, warmth, and professional skill, Per demonstrated time and again what it means to make a difference for students. He was constantly at the forefront of pedagogical development, and regardless of the challenges he faced, he met them with creativity, patience, and an unwavering belief in every student’s potential. It is this perseverance and this heart that make Per a natural candidate for this award. A teacher who leaves lasting traces—not only in the university’s corridors, but in the lives of his students.”

Per’s wife, Ann-Sofie Jemth, attended the Student Council’s end-of-year dinner in his place and accepted the Lyktan award on his behalf.
