Ing-Marie Wieselgren • In memoriam
Ing-Marie Wieselgren, National coordinator for psychiatric issues at The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), has passed away at the age of 64. Ing-Marie leaves behind a void that is difficult to fill, and we who had the privilege of working with Ing-Marie remember her with gratitude.

During the Almedalen week, Ing-Marie Wieselgren was the victim of a brutal and unimaginable assault which caused a difficult experience for a family left behind - husband Donald, children Sara, Cane, Arvid and Herman and their families - but also for many others, not least us who are active in U-FOLD at Uppsala University with partners.
In the many important projects that Ing-Marie initiated during her time at SALAR, U-FOLD has been involved in several. Most recently in the gathering of forces with a focus on mental health that she initiated a few years ago. U-FOLD was involved in an arena focused on drugs and mental illness. During the past decade, Ing-Marie has participated in many U-FOLD seminars in Almedalen. She has shared knowledge on current topics with great commitment and enthusiasm. Before the assault in Visby, she attended a seminar on the implementation of mental co-morbidity in treatment of drug addiction.
Ing-Marie received her medical training at Uppsala University before conducting her dissertation in 1995 on a thesis on prognostic factors in psychotic disorders, thus, coming into contact with Uppsala University's addiction research. From 1997 onwards, she led a special team at the Uppsala University Hospital for young people with psychosis before becoming Clinic director and Operations manager at the Psychosis and rehabilitation clinic at the University Hospital.
From 2007, Ing-Marie was project manager and National coordinator for psychiatric issues at The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions. Her commitment and compassion for people affected by mental illness was impressive and many appreciated the safe, steady balance she carried within – not least those who listened to her in the pulpit, but also those who heard her in media, for example in Sveriges Radio's program series Tankar för dagen. In the foreseeable future, we will miss the source of inspiration that Ing-Marie contributed, but also feel sincere gratitude for all that she has meant to so many throughout our country.
