In the summer of 2023, SweDeliver is for the third consecutive year offering late stage master students the opportunity to a six week research internship with one of the competence center's 16 industrial partners. For the student, this is a unique opportunity to gain important industrial experience and to build networks in the pharmaceutical industry. For the company, it provides an extra resource in an ongoing development project.

“We have just closed this year's application period, and the response from the students is remarkable. We have received almost 70 high-quality applications from around the world, which in turn shows that SweDeliver is approaching the international reputation we are constantly striving towards. We are now looking forward to the pleasant task of selecting the candidates we will proceed with for interviews before matching them with the right industry partners,” says Christel Bergström, Center leader and Professor of Molecular Pharmaceutics.

The investment in summer interns is one of many strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening students' involvement in SweDeliver's research areas, thus, expanding the platform for future recruitments of undergraduate students and PhD students. It is also a step for the center to contribute to increased mobility between academia and industry.

“It is fantastic that Uppsala University provides its students, not least us from other countries, such an extraordinary opportunity. The fact that I got to utlize my theoretical knowledge at a European company has been of great importance to my personal and professional development, and will certainly enhance my prospects throughout a future professional career,” states Jessica Mahajan, SweDeliver intern at Disruptive Pharma AB in the summer of 2022.
