They win the Pharmaceutical Student Union's Pedagogical awards 2023

“That I receive the award for Student Treatment is very much a reflection of the inspiration that interacting with the students gives me,” says Birgitta Hellsing, Administrative Coordinator at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, who together with Anne-Lie Svensson and the Department Board of Pharmaceutical Biosciences receive the Pharmaceutical Student Union's Pedagogical awards 2023.

The Student Council’s Pedagogical Prize is awarded to Anne-Lie Svensson, Senior lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, for her enriching and improving of a learning environment characterized by her competence, commitment and creativity. “Receiving the Student Council's Award is a special honor, as it is presented by the students that I teach. I especially put value on their motivation, that emphasize that I create what I strive for: a positive, safe and educational environment where they, based on their needs, are engaged and find inspiration to learn more,” says Anne-Lie Svensson, who in 2021 was awarded Uppsala University's Pedagogical Prize.

Birgitta Hellsing, Administrative Coordinator at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, is awarded the Student Council's prize for Student Treatment. In her professional role, Birgitta welcomes students who do degree projects, conduct summer research and participate in board work at the Department. In its motivation, the Council highlights how Birgitta, with her positive attitude and hard work, is an inspiration to the Faculty's students.

“The prize is really a big and pleasant surprise! After all, I mainly meet the students outside the study situation: when they start their degree projects and when they occasionally find time for coffee between all the experiments and valuable efforts they carry out for our institution. To see their joy, energy and great commitment is tremendously inspiring, and the fact that I receive the award for Student Treatment is very much a reflection of all the positivity that interacting with the students gives me.”

The Student Council's prize for Student Influence is awarded to the Department Board of Pharmaceutical Biosciences. The Board – with currently members Ola Söderberg, Göran Alderborn, Ola Spjuth, Ulf Göransson, Christina Wedén, Marina Rönngren, Frida Lindberg, Maryam Tofiq and Oskar Lövström – receives the award for their excellent work of taking students' interests into account.

“The Department board has asked for, campaigned for and now recruited a student representative, which has streamlined communication with our council, something we really appreciate and that makes us look forward to future relations,” states Abubakar Shakeel, Vice chair of the Pharmaceutical Student Union and responsible for educational issues.

The Faculty of Pharmacy congratulates Anne-Lie Svensson, Birgitta Hellsing and the Institutional Board for Pharmaceutical Biosciences on their very well-deserved prizes that were awarded at the Pharmaceutical Student Union's meeting 30 May.
