Elin Svensson receives a SEK 1.2 million grant from the Heart-Lung Foundation

The Faculty of Pharmacy congratulates Elin Svensson, Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacy, on receiving SEK 1.2 million from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation for her research with a focus on pharmacometric models as a tool to predict treatment outcome in tuberculosis.

Elin Svensson, researcher with a focus on pharmacometric models applied in the area of Global Health, receives a three-year SEK 1.2 million grant from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation (Hjärt-Lungfonden) for her project Models and markers to predict treatment outcome in tuberculosis – A disease that in 2021 alone claimed the lives of 1.6 million people.

Main themes in Elin Svensson’s research are biomarkers for treatment response and better treatment for children. Many of Elin’s projects are conducted within the framework of international collaborations, among them UNITE4TB that in early November announced the start of its phase 2B/C clinical trial program to test 14 combinations of nine existing drugs and two newly developed candidates against tuberculosis.
