New doctoral theses at the Faculty of Pharmacy

Shno Asad defended her thesis Magnetic nanoparticles for diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease, introducing the basis for a new technique to enable safer and more effective ways to diagnose inflammatory bowel disease. Shno currently works as a Postdoc at Karolinska Institutet.

Yuming Zhang defended her thesis Magnetic Nanoparticle-Based Formulations for Colorectal Cancer Theranostics, in which she introduces a method to diagnose and treat colorectal cancer completely without invasive procedures. Today, Yuming continues her work at Uppsala University.

Shaquib Rahman Ansari defended his thesis From design to application: Iron oxide nanoparticles for imaging and therapeutics in inflammatory and infectious diseases with a focus on super-paramagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), a door-opener in nanomedicine that shows remarkable potential for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Today, Shaquib works as a Postdoc at UMC Utrecht.

Raphaël Saporta defended his thesis Model-based translation of antibiotic-bacteria-neutrophil interactions with supervisors Lena Friberg and Elisabet Nielsen. Today Raphaël works as a Clinical Pharmacometrician at Servier.

Eman Ibrahim defended her thesis Mechanism-based pharmacometric models to improve the development and use of anticancer therapies, adding important knowledge to model-informed drug development, improve the conditions to integrate preclinical and clinical data and strengthen the foundation for evidence-based decision making across the drug development lifecycle. Today, Eman works as an Associate Consultant at Pharmetheus.

Budi Octasari Susanto defended her thesis Pharmacometric Modeling to Support Tuberculosis Drug Development and Treatment Optimization with results that pave the way for more efficient drug development and optimized care. Today, Budi works as an Associate Consultant at Calvagone.

Yuanxi Zou defended her thesis Applications of pharmacometrics to improve treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in children introducing findings on how pharmacometrics tools can streamline the modification of tuberculosis treatments for adults to also include children. Today, Yuanxi works as a researcher at Uppsala University.

At the Conferment Ceremony, the Faculty of Pharmacy is also proud to welcome Peter Langguth, Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, as new Honorary Doctor of Pharmacy. Thursday 29 January you can meet Professor Langguth as he gives the Honorary Doctorate Lecture Lipoplexes and solid lipid nanoparticles for delivery of RNA.
