“Society's need for licensed prescriptionists is tangible, which makes it absolutely necessary to fill every seat in the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy with highly motivated students aiming to shoulder the profession's central role in working for a healthier society. Therefore, we must quickly and widely reach out with information about the new eligibility. That's why we are mobilizing all faculty employees to spread the word on their private social media,” says Program Coordinator Emma Lundkvist.

The message that is currently being spread throughout Sweden reads "Do you or someone you know want a fun profession where you make a difference to people's health? Then being a prescriptionist could be something for you, a profession with a brilliant job market and only three years of education. In the fall of 2026, we will revise the eligibility requirements for the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy at Uppsala University so that more people have the opportunity to apply!" All illustrated with newly taken photos from Practicum, where the Faculty of Pharmacy's educational environments have quickly become a student favorite.

“Both we and the industry representatives we are in dialogue with are completely confident that this step is overall positive for the profession, and the faster we reach the target group – which also includes pharmacy technician students and career changers who do not wish to complete a full preparatory year of natural sciences – the greater the possibility to fulfill our vision of attracting two applicants for every seat, with the majority choosing us as their first option,” says Programme Chair Fredrik Jernerén.
