Spring greetings from a sunny BMC

Here in Uppsala, we are currently launching our much-anticipated initiative in regulatory science. With the recruitment of three PhD students, we are laying the foundation for a new research school. We are seeing great enthusiasm, and in close dialogue with The Swedish Medicines Agency, industry representatives and other stakeholders, we are now outlining how to optimise our contribution to strengthening Sweden’s already prominent position among Europe’s leading pharmaceutical nations.

Across our educational programmes, trends are clearly positive. Interest in studying pharmacy is at a record high, with applications for this semester rising nearly 25 percent nationwide. Combined with Saco’s forecasts indicating a continued strong job market – and the upcoming broadening of eligibility for our Bachelor Programme in Pharmacy – we are approaching the academic year 2026/27 with great confidence.

Speaking of education, we congratulate Bobo Skillinghaug on being honored with the Biomedicine Programme’s Pedagogical Award, Limbiska Priset, for the 3rd time. We also recognise our outstanding Bachelor of Pharmacy students, who last week presented their degree projects, with special mention to Elin Sjöblom, awarded Best Presentation. You inspire us!
