A Faculty at the top and still on the rise • Summer Greeting from our Deans

Sommarhälsning från dekanerna 2026

"Time flies when you enjoy what you do, and suddenly our six years as Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy are drawing to a close. What a journey it has been: from the early days of COVID-mandated Zoom meetings to a period of truly remarkable development," Mathias Hallberg and Anja Sandström state in this year's summer greetings

Our educational programmes have taken important steps forward through a strengthened organisational structure and an expanded portfolio of offerings. We are now seeing the results, not least in the form of record-breaking interest in our Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Programme and our Complementary Programme for Pharmacists with a Foreign Degree.

Ola Thomas och Ottilia

Ola Söderberg published his tenth article in Nature, Thomas Dorlo was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant, and Ottilia Andersson received the Iris Scholarship for forward-thinking women

Our research teams continue to deliver new and highly relevant findings, which are also reflected in major global rankings. In April, Uppsala University climbed to #24 worldwide in Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS World University Rankings, an impressive rise of 23 positions. We are equally proud to see an increasing number of colleagues achieving outstanding success in individual rankings.

Achievements such as these make us an attractive partner for international collaboration. We would like to congratulate ENABLE-2 on increasingly establishing itself as a leading player in early-stage antibiotic development. Congratulations also to SweDeliver, which recently welcomed Merck as its fifteenth partner. Of course, we look forward to meeting many of you during Almedalen Week 2026, where we will bring together parts of our growing network for a series of timely and engaging seminars.

Finally, we would like to wish our new Deputy Deans, Christian Sköld (First and Second Cycle Education) and Sara Mangsbo (Collaboration), every success in your new roles. We look forward to working closely with you as we take on our new responsibilities as Dean and Deputy Vice-Rector.

But for now, dear colleagues, alumni and friends: with only a few days remaining until your well-deserved holidays, we wish you all a sunny, relaxing and, above all, wonderful summer. See you in the autumn!
