The Faculty of Pharmacy top-ranked for higher education
In the QS World University Rankings, Uppsala University is ranked no. 37 in the world for studies in Pharmacy & Pharmacology. "This proves that our work at Uppsala University gives results, and also gives us important inspiration for the future," says Mathias Hallberg, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

In the QS World University Rankings 2021, Uppsala University ranks among the world's leading universities for higher education in 35 subjects. Uppsala University receives its highest position in Pharmacology & Pharmacology at place 37. The ranking is based on a comparison between 14,435 programmes at 1,452 universities.
“As Sweden's only Faculty of Pharmacy, including our successful collaboration with Uppsala University's Faculty of Medicine, we can mobilise a unique scientific breadth that entails great responsibilities in both research, collaboration and not least the education of tomorrow's pharmaceutical experts. That QS World University Ranking ranks our work in Pharmacy & Pharmacology in 37th place in the world gives us important inspiration and every reason to face the future with optimism, says Mathias Hallberg, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The Faculty of Pharmacy currently educates more than 1,000 students at the Uppsala Biomedical Centre. With the ambition of giving each student a first-rate education, the faculty has recently revised its Master and Bachelor of Science Programmes and welcomes a growing number of students to a wide range of Master's Programmes. Starting in autumn 2021, the Faculty of Pharmacy will also launch several freestanding courses, covering subjects where the pharmaceutical industry expresses a need for future competence.
“The Swedish government is currently making large investments in knowledge and lifelong learning, and our faculty is receiving funding to develop courses with a focus on current challenges in society and care. This autumn, we will initiate courses in, among other things, Drugs in the environment, Nanomedicines, Biologicals and a number of other fields where our teachers, are well rooted in frontline research. . Of course we also continue to monitor society in order to fine-tune our course offerings, based on what participants and society require,” says Anja Sandström, Deputy Dean for first and second cycle education at the Faculty of Pharmacy.
