Dr. Mazur is a lecturer in the Department of Political Economy at King's College London. Previously, he worked for International Crisis Group and was a Fellow at Nuffield College (Oxford). His research focuses on the role of identities and state-society connections in revolutions and civil wars, primarily in the Arab world. His book, Revolution in Syria: Identity, Networks, and Repression (Cambridge University Press, 2021), examines how protest turns into ethnicized violent conflict. Mazur’s work has also appeared in World Politics, Political Science Quarterly, Comparative Political Studies, and Comparative Politics.
