Alva Myrdal Centre launches AI Governance Working Group

The Alva Myrdal Centre for nuclear disarmament has announced a new working group focused on AI governance within the context of nuclear disarmament research! The group is led by Associate Professor Sophia Hatz.

The working group will explore topics such as interrelated risks from advanced AI and nuclear weapons, AI governance challenges, and the possibility of applying lessons from nuclear governance.

The group has begun formulating research areas, connecting with key researchers and seeking funding. It will also host a panel at our AMC Cross-Disciplinary Conference in June.

Sophia introduced the group and potential research paths to the board and working group leaders at our AMC fall retreat. Interest and inquiries have grown since, and we’re excited to see this new initiative develop!
